The news comes a week before the franchise’s big day, and after a fair amount of fan discontent with the series’ handling by VIZ. The developments also arise after the removal of the original BLEACH series on Crunchyroll, adding more to the chagrin regarding the lack of streaming information. The series, having recently dropped an anniversary release of the original manga, has been highly anticipated since the end of the manga in August 2016.

A few minutes after VIZ’s announcement, ANN echoed the news. The official streaming information for BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War for both the Japanese and international release can be found below. In recent weeks, VIZ has gained notoriety among BLEACH fans for the marketing of the series, particularly after the official Twitter account appeared to be trolling users who asked where the series will be made available.
The series will be available in the US on October 10 at 11:30am EDT. The series is scheduled to run for four cours with breaks in between each. Last week, Crunchyroll removed the entirety of the BLEACH anime series from its platform, which greatly fueled speculation and concern about the series’ return, with its removal from such a major platform, and lack of international streaming information at the time thought to prove disastrous for the series’ return.
BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War is the adaptation to the dramatic final arc of Tite Kubo’s manga published in Weekly Shōnen Jump. The series will be the adaptation of the climactic war between the Shinigami and the Quincies, which ran over the course of volumes 55 to 74, the final volume. The series itself ran from August 2001 to August 2016. A sequel one-shot chapter was released in July 2021, with events set after the end of the original manga.
The original BLEACH anime ran for 366 episodes, airing from October 2004 to March 2012. The franchise also spawned four movies and two Original Video Animations (OVAs). VIZ obtained the television and home video rights to the series in 2006, debuting an English dub later that year. The full dubbed series was completed in 2014. BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War has a massive cast, with several characters having appeared in official media such as the Brave Souls mobile game, and the voice actors reprising their roles. The cast from the original Japanese series returns, with several big-name additions being made in the new arc.
